Frequently Asked Questions
The Game Appears Stuck or Frozen - What should I do?

There are two posibilities:  1) Either you started a challenge and it's taking a while, or 2) The game is actually frozen.  Read below:

1) NOTE:  As of January 2021 in v5.x, the dictionary is no longer stored in notecards.  Ignore this if you have a new game.  Challenges can take a while because the dictionaries are stored in notecards inside the game and reading notecards via scripts takes time (SL limitation).  Please be patient.  It's NOT frozen.  Wait for the results.  NOTE:  The challenge mode has been significantly improved in the 4.0 Engine updates, but some words, depending on their location in the dictionary could still take some time to validate.

2) If the game is actually frozen or stuck, it could be an SL glitch where a momentary lag spike interrupted the communication between the game and the HUD.  If this happens, the game could possibly get stuck, waiting for a response that won't come.  If this happens, you will need to reset the game.  Click the MENU button on the table and choose RESET from the menu.  This will completely reset the game and allow you to start over.  Sorry, lag is something I cannot fix.

Why does a Challenge take so long?

Challenges can take a while because the dictionaries are stored in notecards inside the game and reading notecards via scripts takes time (SL limitation).  Please be patient.  It's NOT frozen.  Wait for the results.  NOTE:  As of January 2021 in v5.x, the dictionary is no longer stored in notecards.  Ignore this if you have a new game.

Why can't I change my pose while sitting?

NOTE:  As of January 2021, the seats are all updated with AVSitter 2.2 and you have the ability to now adjust your position AND save your personal settings for poses!  >>> v4.x and below:  I've updated the code for the poses and now you should be able to click your chair/seat to get a menu.  On the menu, you can choose PREV or NEXT to move through the poses.  This allows you now to cam onto yourself and view the poses without having the view reset using the keyboard keys.  Please note there are only single poses in some games, so PREV or NEXT will do nothing.  Also, some games do not have poses.

Why do I keep seeing an error when trying to start a game?

The steps to get started are:

Click the arrow in front of your spot (it says "Click to Play").

  • Accept the HUD you are given.

  • Wear the HUD (Attach to Worn is suggested).

  • Confirm everyone has their HUD attached to their screen.

  • Once everyone is wearing their HUD, ONE player can click START on the game.

If someone clicks START before all players wear their HUD:

  • The game is smart and will not let you start until all players wear the HUD.

If someone wanted to play, but forgot to click the "Click to Play" arrow:

  • Ask everyone to keep their HUD attached.

  • You will need to click the RESET on the main MENU (on the table).

  • Everyone click the "Click to Play" arrow by their spot.

  • Ask them to please decline the new HUD offered.

  • Wait for ALL players to confirm they have their HUD on.

  • Now you should be able to click START to begin the game.

If someone decides they do not want to play, after they clicked the "Click to Start" arrow:

  • Ask them to remove their HUD.

  • Ask all other players to keep their HUD attached.

  • Click MENU and choose RESET.

  • Everyone who wants to play now clicks the "Click to Play" arrow by their spot.

  • Ask everyone to decline the HUD offered from the game.

  • When everyone playing has their HUD attached, somebody can now click START to begin.

Can I turn off the annoying particles?

You should not have the original table any more.  Please contact me immediately for your free upgrade.  The annoying particle at the center of the table has been completely removed in the newer versions of Slurbage.

Why do I need to click buttons twice?

There is some odd behavior that seems unfixable.  If you click on something in world, then click on something on the HUD, that first click on the HUD simply brings focus to the HUD, and the second click is then detected.  This could be a viewer issue, or a Windows issue.  Either way, I can't resolve it.  Watch the instructions box on the HUD.  When your click is detected properly, the instruction text tells you what to do.

The game keeps giving me a HUD.  Why?

Imagine the game gives you a HUD, you play, then you delete the HUD.  How would you get another one when you want to play again? If the game stored your name, it could choose NOT to give you one, but if you deleted yours, you'd be stuck. The easiest way to manage this is:  First time playing, accept the HUD.  On subsequent games, decline the offer from the game, and simply use yours.  If you delete yours, then you can always get another.  This is the easiest method, in my opinion.

Why is there so much chat?

There are a lot messages required.  It's a complex game, and a lot happens during play.  Messages are blocks of text, and they take up a lot of memory if stored and pushed to the HUD or sent via dialog menus.  To balance memory usage with necessity, I decided to use local messages that are "whispered", which cuts down on spam that is heard beyond 10 meters.

There might be a bug or a problem with my game.  What should I do?

It is very important that you document what happened.  I need as much detail as possible to find the problem and fix it.  Example:  I need to know how many people were playing, what was being done when the problem happened... what options did you click.. sequence of events... etc.  The more detail the better.  Contact me directly by either IM or note card, and I will do my very best to get it investigated and fixed.  When a fix becomes available, a fix release will be delivered, for free - always free.

I crashed and when I came back, the game just skipped me.  Why?

The short story is this:  Every prim in SL is assigned a unique UUID (key) so the server can keep track of everything in-world.  When you have a HUD attached and you crash or log out, it is assigned a new (key) when you log back on.  The game knows your HUD (key) when you begin the game.  If you crash, or log out, and log back on, the game doesn't know your new HUD (key).  For this reason, you will not be able to continue in the game that was in progress.

The game keeps looking for someone who quit or logged off.  Why?

Although crashing or logging out prevents a player from re-joining the game in progress, the game was designed to allow someone to wander off (anywhere in SecondLife), and come back, as long as they KEEP THE HUD ATTACHED.  When you return, the game will be able to let you continue playing.  Please NOTE:  While you are gone, you cannot challenge anything, and your turn is skipped until you return.

Your games are no copy.  What happens if I lose it due to SL problems?

I've been in SL a long time, and I have lost things.  Most creators are really nice about it, and will replace your inventory item.  I am one of those creators.  I do not believe you should be punished for SL inventory asset issues.  Just let me know.  I will re-deliver your game as soon as possible.  My policy is, and always will be:  "Your satisfaction is my guarantee."

PLEASE NOTE:  Some games are COPY enabled (like WALL, SCI-FI, and CUDDLE, for example).  If you have a COPY enabled game, I strongly urge you to rez a copy from inventory - NEVER SHIFT DRAG YOUR GAME on the ground in SL as it could damage poses or other features such as prim animations, etc.

What is your refund policy?  I'm not satisfied with my purchase, can I have a refund?

My policy is, and always will be:  "Your satisfaction is my guarantee."  Although my products are relatively inexpensive, it's your money, and I understand how frustrating things can get when you are not happy with a purchase.  My first goal will always be to work with you and try to help you resolve whatever is making you unhappy.  Most times, it's easy to do.  However, if we work together, and we cannot come to a resolution that you are happy with, the bottom line is YES, I will refund you.  My only request is that you work with me first, and let me try to help.  If you are unreasonable, rude, or impossible to work with then I will defer to the "buyer beware" policy of most businesses in SL and RL and a refund may not be possible.  Remember, "A spoonful of honey will catch more flies than a gallon of vinegar." - Benjamin Franklin (as Richard Saunders) - 1732 to 1758.

How do I know if I have the latest version?

The marketplace store (located here) is always up to date with the latest version of your game.  Click there and find your game, and look at the version number.  It's shown at the top next to the name of the product, right above the picture of the product.  Now, rez your game in-world (if not already rezzed), and hover your mouse over it.  If you disable hover tips, you can edit the game and look at the description field on the general tab.  Compare this with the market listing.  If they are not the same, you probably need an update!  Contact me, and I'll re-deliver it for you ASAP.

Note on version numbers:  The version numbers are shown with their engine number followed by release date:

Example:  v4.0.122115 means:  Engine version 4.0, release date is December 21, 2015 (Month, Day, Year).
